Different Kinds of Finish

There are many different ways to finish your hardwood floors.

There are a few main finishes that will keep your hardwood floors protected, and help elongate the lifetime of them.

Water/ Oil Based Finish

This finish is a normal kind of hardwood floor finish that seals the wood with a clear film over your hardwood floor. These finishes come in a variety of sheens that range from satin (matte), to gloss. This kind of finish gives the floor a much more synthetic look, but it does give you the ability to make your floor very shiny. If the floor gets scratched from wear and tear, then you will need to completely refinish the floor in order to make it look like new again.

Hard Oil/ Paste Wax Finish

This is a very unique kind of finish that actually penetrates the pores in your hardwood floor and seals it from within the product. It is special because it also has a matte finish, which gives the floor a much more natural look than some other finishes do. The hard oil finish is also very easily maintained, and the homeowner can even do touch ups without hiring a professional to come refinish the entire floor!
